Spartan

Image
We did a Sparten race . Everyone but dad ran a race . The race was in Hollister California . We stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Johns. When we got there we had to wait in a long line to get our race numbers. Mom's registration line went really fast but the kids line was slow moving. Once we got in ( like 15 minutes later ) we had to find moms start line first. Her race started a little late but it was fun for us to all get to watch her start. Mom ran a 5k with 20 obstacles. Next, we headed off to find ET’s race. ET had to run half a mile with a few obstacles. ET, was one of the youngest racers in his group. Dad ran along the side encouraging ET to keep going. ET ran hard and finished strong. He is still proud of his finisher medal. The 3rd race was MJ’s and SP’s . They ran a one mile with multiple obstacles. MJ finishef before SP but they were not that far apart. They had a lot of fun. They also both got finisher medals. We were watching the clock a new mom should...

Reno Hot Air Balloon Races

Image
Early friday September the 8th mom got up at 2:30am to get ready to take us to Reno hot air ballon races. we went to the Reno hot air balloon races . We all packed and loaded the car the night before with blankets and food. So all we had to do was get up potty and load up in the car. We met up with our friends at 3:15am and headed up to Reno to see the balloons.  Once there we meet up with some more friends.  When we got there and were looking for a place to sit some people setting up a balloon for dawn partol said that we could sit by there them as part of their group. We were pretty lucky and had a really up close show. Some of the event people even told us that if we were part of the crew we could be there. But the people said we were, so we could stay. While we were sitting there a crew member from another balloon came over and asked if some of us could help them set up.  They were short handed. SP and CJ got right up to help. They got to pull ...

Lights in the Night ET's Birthday Adventure

Image
ET's Birthday Adventure to the Dragon Light Festival in Reno. Happy Birthday ET!!! We spent all day celebrating ET, eating orange chicken and chocolate cake with chocolate moose frosting topped with strawberries.  Once done with cake Mom and Dad serprised us with tickets to the Dragon Light Festical . When we first got there it was still light out, so the lights were not bight yet and the festival was pretty empty. We enjoyed the seeing and doing everything before the crowds arrived, the darker it got the more people arrived.  We were able to walk around the light loop twive before it got to busy, we were able to take photos with all of the cool lights. I loved the peacock that was there, the most it was super pretty. It would change colors and its tail would go up and spread out. My next favorite thing up was this black light flower tunnel it was so pretty the floweres were always changing colors.  Next, was the butterflies there...

Burney Falls

Image
Last but not least, on this trip were going to McArthur-Burney Falls State Park . We will be staying outside the park at the Burney Falls KOA campground.  Once we were all set up we headed to the Subway Caves closer to Lassen National Park. The Subway Caves were amazing! The Cave is really a Lava Tube, its sharp and rocky. The caves are really dark inside. We had fun turning our flashlights off and trying to find are way. The caves are also nice and cool inside at a cozy 46 degrees. This is very nice when its 90+ outside.  The next day we went to Burney Falls SP. We left camp early so we could get there before it got too busy. We did the fall loop trail the falls were super cool. When we were near the falls it was wet and chilly. After the fall trail we turned in are junior ranger booklet to earn a new patch. Then we did the Head Waters trail. This trail follows the river to where it comes out of the ground. It was a very pretty trail. When we reached the head w...

The Twist and Turns of the Trinity Highway 299

Image
The Trinity Hwy is a twisty, turny road for sure. This was the second time we had traveled this road so we knew what we were getting into and we knew that we wanted to split it up with a stop in the middle. We hit the road with no reservations, but hopes of finding a place close to the middle.  This is how we came across Del Loma Campground. But, first I guess I should say that we did stop at some random place "google" said was a Campground. It was not, and they recommended for us to continue up to Del Loma Campground, so when we saw it mom jumped out and ran in.  Once we were checked in, found a site, minimally set up ( we were only staying one night ) and ate lunch we were ready to explore. It was very hot out after being in Klamath all week so we wanted water. We could see the Trinity from our campsite and there was a trail to the beach right below us. So we grabbed a few things and headed down.  The River was so clear and really not that cold we ran...

Klamath California

Image
Stopping off here in Klamath California at the Klamath Camper Corral ( KCC ), were we stayed a full week. This was are second time to stay here.   OCEAN The KCC has a small trail that takes you to the klamath river inlet we walk down to and check it out with the dogs several times a day. Were about a 10 minute drive from camp to a small beach along highway 101. ( were not sure it has a name ) Any ways we go to this beach most days so let's just call it the   Klamath beach.   At the Klamath beach we love playing in the waves for hours. We have wet suits so we don’t freeze to death but the water is still pretty cold trust me. SP always plays the longest in the water. A lot of the times we go we have beach fires to warm up around and even have s’mores. Mom and Dad let us kids have our own fire one of the days. We had to start it and keep it going. Dad ended up helping us start it but we kept it going for about 3 hours. It was fun to have our own fire. We ...

Attack at Crater Lake

Image
Here we go again, we're off to Crater Lake and a few other places but will get to them later.   Mom and Dad got us up at the wee hour of 4am to head out on this adventure. Why, you might ask? Well, for a few reasons but mostly in hopes we will sleep during the drive and the roads won’t be to hot and cause blow out, beating any traffic is an added bonus.   Once we got there we popped out the 5th wheel slides and set up camp. We all rode scooters and played while mom made us a snack. Once ready we all jumped back in the truck to go see the lake. We did the quick drive up to Rim Village to spend a few hours.   Fun fact -  Famous for its beautiful blue color, the lake’s water comes directly from snow or rain -- there are no inlets from other water sources. This means no sediment or mineral deposits are carried into the lake, helping it maintain its rich color and making it one of the cleanest and clearest lakes of the world.  My first thought when I sa...
