Burney Falls

Last but not least, on this trip were going to McArthur-Burney Falls State Park. We will be staying outside the park at the Burney Falls KOA campground.

Once we were all set up we headed to the Subway Caves closer to Lassen National Park. The Subway Caves were amazing! The Cave is really a Lava Tube, its sharp and rocky. The caves are really dark inside. We had fun turning our flashlights off and trying to find are way. The caves are also nice and cool inside at a cozy 46 degrees. This is very nice when its 90+ outside.
The next day we went to Burney Falls SP. We left camp early so we could get there before it got too busy. We did the fall loop trail the falls were super cool. When we were near the falls it was wet and chilly. After the fall trail we turned in are junior ranger booklet to earn a new patch. Then we did the Head Waters trail. This trail follows the river to where it comes out of the ground. It was a very pretty trail. When we reached the head water point we saw like 10 turtles sitting logs and rocks. The head water trail was part of the PCT ( pacific crest trail )
We drove down to Lake Brittany the water was really nice after doing the 2 hikes. I swam all the booies and walked on the wire that held them together. We had a picnic while i was laying in the sun drying off. Mom and Dad think they are funny and picked me up and through me into the lake not once but twice.
The KOA we were staying at was holding a craft activity for all the campers. The craft that we got to do was painting rocks. We all painted several we took a few home but left some because the campground is trying to build a painted rock garden. We really enjoyed this campground.
Mom said it was one of her favorites
