The Twist and Turns of the Trinity Highway 299

Image
The Trinity Hwy is a twisty, turny road for sure. This was the second time we had traveled this road so we knew what we were getting into and we knew that we wanted to split it up with a stop in the middle. We hit the road with no reservations, but hopes of finding a place close to the middle.  This is how we came across Del Loma Campground. But, first I guess I should say that we did stop at some random place "google" said was a Campground. It was not, and they recommended for us to continue up to Del Loma Campground, so when we saw it mom jumped out and ran in.  Once we were checked in, found a site, minimally set up ( we were only staying one night ) and ate lunch we were ready to explore. It was very hot out after being in Klamath all week so we wanted water. We could see the Trinity from our campsite and there was a trail to the beach right below us. So we grabbed a few things and headed down.  The River was so clear and really not that cold we ran...

Klamath California

Stopping off here in Klamath California at the Klamath Camper Corral ( KCC ), were we stayed a full week. This was are second time to stay here.   OCEAN The KCC has a small trail that takes you to the klamath river inlet we walk down to and check it out with the dogs several times a day. Were about a 10 minute drive from camp to a small beach along highway 101. ( were not sure it has a name ) Any ways we go to this beach most days so let's just call it the   Klamath beach.   At the Klamath beach we love playing in the waves for hours. We have wet suits so we don’t freeze to death but the water is still pretty cold trust me. SP always plays the longest in the water. A lot of the times we go we have beach fires to warm up around and even have s’mores. Mom and Dad let us kids have our own fire one of the days. We had to start it and keep it going. Dad ended up helping us start it but we kept it going for about 3 hours. It was fun to have our own fire. We ...

Attack at Crater Lake

Here we go again, we're off to Crater Lake and a few other places but will get to them later.   Mom and Dad got us up at the wee hour of 4am to head out on this adventure. Why, you might ask? Well, for a few reasons but mostly in hopes we will sleep during the drive and the roads won’t be to hot and cause blow out, beating any traffic is an added bonus.   Once we got there we popped out the 5th wheel slides and set up camp. We all rode scooters and played while mom made us a snack. Once ready we all jumped back in the truck to go see the lake. We did the quick drive up to Rim Village to spend a few hours.   Fun fact -  Famous for its beautiful blue color, the lake’s water comes directly from snow or rain -- there are no inlets from other water sources. This means no sediment or mineral deposits are carried into the lake, helping it maintain its rich color and making it one of the cleanest and clearest lakes of the world.  My first thought when I sa...
